I am currently looking for amateurs radio operators for ARES membership. Amateur
Radio Emergency Service (ARES) operators must be licensed Amateur Radio Operators of any class. You do not have
to be a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). ARES member do not have to live in Potter Co. , PA. Surrounding
county members are welcome.
There are no fee's, members would be asked to check into a 2 meter FM
net when possible. We will have a Net once a week on a Saturday night. The Net will last about 15 minutes
and checkin's can be from any location.
To aid local public services of Potter Co., we may work on mapping
the local roads by using APRS by Packet radio. We will use GPS in combination with Direction Finding Hunts.
I will try to make the learning process an enjoyable event. Event's as Fox hunts and coffee socials
will be part of the experience. Our meetings , if we desire, will be socials with everyone invited .
